Copying the correct folder

AFTERNOON

There have been some issues with the incorrect folder being given to myself. So I have come into University to copy the correct folder over onto my hard drive to take home as part of the video footage for editing.

EVENING

Tonight I will be looking through the new folder of footage to see what videos can be used ready for editing in Premiere. I put all the videos that i was going to use into one main folder.

Making a start on editing and audio

(16th,17th,18th and 19th of December)
Friday 16th of December

I looked at the files my client gave me for the project. I spent several hours looking through the files to find videos that would be suitable for editing material. I have decided that I will use the Programme Adobe Premiere for editing.

Saturday 17th of December

To start the editing process I used the programme Premiere. I  imported some of the videos that I will be using for editing, and just played around with the different effects on them. I experimented with the colour correction and speed. I also cut out an unnesesary bits that were in the indivitual videos and messed around with joining videos together to create a sequence of footage.

Sunday 18th of December

I carried on with experimenting with the different videos in Premiere and also added a effect onto one or two videos that I experimented with using the Programme Adobe After Effects.

Monday 19th of December

From looking at different Parkour videos and speaking to my client, I started to play around with some gutair chords/notes for a song that I will be making throughout the weeks of the project to support my final video editing.

Research on Streaming videos

What is Streaming?

Streaming is a process that happens when a person wants to watch or listen to something. The streaming process involves a users computer and a sever working together. The process of streaming starts as soon as the user clicks on the video. The sever will send the video through the Internet digital which will then start playing on the users computer.

Streaming process will allow the user to click anywhere on the timeline from which the user wants to watch the video.

Explanation of an example of streaming

E.g. The user wants to watch the last part of the video

In this example the user has clicked towards the end of the video so now the streaming process will buffer from this point onwards.

Streaming is a continiuos process which must reprocess everytime. The process includes a buffer that the video or audio is temparley stored until it gets to the time in which it can be played. A bigger file size video or audio will take longer to stream than a video with a small file size. Straeming is all web based and that is why web videos have a small file size. The progress of streaming does'nt just slow down if the video/audio is on the large size, but it depends on the user Internet speed. A slower Internet connection will take video longer to stream which will then mean a longer waiting time for the user to play it.

You can test the speed of your Internet at the website:

http://www.speedtest.net/

e.g. 12.41mb per second on a PC connection to 10.5mb per second on a wireless connection on a handfree device.

Streaming process on a computer will be quicker than on a wireless internet connection.

Inspiration on editing techniques

I wanted to make the editing of the project unique and different to the Parkour videos already out on the web. I looked at Parkour videos of different styles and techniques to inspire me for editing my own video.
